About

I am Stephen Craton, a 17 year old guy based out of southern Indiana. My YouTube username is melchiorus. I enjoy various things ranging from gaming (Call of Duty, Unreal Tournament, Company of Heroes), LAN parties (assuming Jesse isn’t attending), computer programming, web development, and of course, making videos. More can be found out about me on my MySpace profile or my personal blog.

What do you do?

I go to school, I’m a junior. I program in PHP and design in HTML/CSS/Photoshop. I entrepreneur all over the place with my various business, Wired Programming being the most successful. In my spare time, I make my videos.

Why do you make videos?

I enjoy making them and I enjoy seeing people’s reactions when they see my work. Generally it’s laughter, and that makes my day.

What are your goals?

I’d love to become a teacher, as a side job. Primary job? I’d love to be an actor, or be in any type of film related field. I’d love to be cast on 24, but that’s unlikely, unless you’re a FOX exec and you are reading this. Then it might be plausible.

How do you pronounce your username “melchiorus”?

Mel, like Mel Gibson. Chi like the word “key”. Or like the word…or. Then just add the letters U and S at the end.

Are your StepMania videos real?

Yes, they are all real and filmed using FRAPS. StepMania is a game for the computer a lot like Dance Dance Revolution. I play using my fingers since the songs I play are usually too difficult for a dance mat. I generally play with one hand at constant 550 bpm. You can download the songs here.

Do you have help making your videos?

Usually not. I do the lighting, camera work, sound work, editing…everything. Recently, I’ve been enlisting help on larger projects to push buttons or do a little acting.

What do you use to make videos?

For games, I use FRAPS. For my live action stuff, I use a Fujifilm FinePix F10 digital camera (starting with “Whodunnit?”, I’ve upgraded to a Canon GL-2 MiniDV camera). For editing, I use Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0.
